The recently announced Lockdown easing will have an effect on the services we offer here at DIVE Northamton. As a result of the Government's Lockdown Policy changes, the shop remains closed for retail sales although you are able to purchase through our online store for home delivery. CLICK HERE to go to our online store. We hope that it won't be too long before we can open the shop properly, albeit with appropriate safeguards and social distancing measures. Now that people are allowed to go out and travel for sport and exercise, the Dive Centre is now open for Air fills, Shooting Fills, Oxygen Fills and Equipment Servicing. For example, our Technical Services team can supply:
Air, Shooting & Oxygen Fills and anything that requires on-site assisstance, including high pressure Air and Oxygen fills, we will help you with while you wait to avoid the need for multiple visits. You will however, be asked to wait in your vehicle or outside during the filling process and we will be operating a one out, one in policy with only one customer allowed in the Centre at a time. For servicing, you may now bring your equipment in to the Centre. We will be operating a one out, one in policy with only one customer allowed in the Centre at a time. You will be asked to leave the equipment with us and we will contact you when it is ready for collection. Servicing is available for BCDs, Regulators and Computers/Watches as these are completed in-house by our team. Cylinder Testing and Dry Suit repairs are not currently available until at least the next phase of the Lockdown lifting takes place. For sales, our online shop is available at https://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php. As we generally only list items we have in stock, we will aim to ship direct from our storage facility, any purchases within 2 working days of order. Training however remains affected. In order to meet the requirements for Social Distancing and following the closure of the pool, we have taken the decision to postpone all training and Club pool sessions until Sunday 1st June at the earliest when the Government has indicated that the next phase of the Lockdown easing may be implemented. Any courses that have been booked will be re-scheduled once the restrictions have been lifted and we have an idea of what options are available. To ensure that no one misses out on their course, the usual 6 month expiry date from the date of booking for courses has been extended to 6 months following the lifting of the Lockdown restrictions that allow us to access the pool and the Open Water facilities. That being said, things are changing rapidly so we advise everyone to check the website at regular intervals to check for any updates and get the latest information. In line with current medical advice, we would also ask that all people who meet the criteria for self-isolation or are in the high-risk categories to stay at home. Revised opening times for Essential Services only: Tuesday to Saturday 10:30am to 1:30pm Finally, we would like to express the hope that everyone manages to cope through these troubling times. If we can help, please let us know how and we'll do the best we can to assist you. All the team DIVE Northampton

As a result of the Government's Lockdown Policy, those of us here DIVE Northampton are still turning up to do the odd Oxygen or Air fill for essential services, post out online orders and work through equipment servicing and repair. While we've all been stopped from going diving, this is an ideal opportunity to get your kit serviced, ready for the moment the government lets us out of our homes and we can get wet again. On top of Oxygen Fills, we're still doing Air Fills for Confined Space or BA Systems, Compressed Gas Fills for Pest Control and other services, Shooting / Air Fills and Life Support Equipment Servicing / Repair. For divers, we are also able to offer:
For servicing, there are a number of options. You can drop your equipment off during the current opening times, you can post/courier your equipment to us or for customers within a 10 mile range, we will arrange to collect your equipment for a charge of £7.50 - just email or call us to make the arrangements. Please ensure that your address, contact details and requirements are included with your equipment. Once we have completed the service work, we will contact you for payment and you can either collect it during the current opening times, we can post/courier your equipment back to you for the cost charged or for customers within a 10 mile range, we can arrange to deliver your equipment for a charge of £7.50. Alternatively, you are welcome to leave anything with us until such time as the restrictions are lifted. Revised opening times: Tuesday to Friday 10:30am to 1:30pm As a result of the Government's Lockdown Policy, DIVE Northampton will only offer a limited service to meet the needs of Essential Workers and Services. For example, we are still able to supply:
Anything essential that requires on-site assisstance, including high pressure Air and Oxygen fills, we will help you with while you wait to avoid the need for multiple visits. You may however, be asked to wait in your vehicle during the filling process. For servicing, please post/courier your equipment to us and we will return it the same way. Please ensure that your return address details and requirements are included with your equipment. For sales, our online shop is available at https://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php. In order to meet the requirements for Social Distancing and following the closure of the pool, we have taken the decision to postpone all training and Club pool sessions until Sunday 3rd May. As Thursday 30th April is the date for our monthly Social Thursday, I hope that we'll be able to get back into the swing of things by doing something fun. That being said, things are changing rapidly so we advise everyone to check the website at regular intervals to check for any updates and get the latest information. In line with current medical advice, we would also ask that no one visits the shop unless it is essential and would urge all people who meet the criteria for self-isolation or are in the high-risk categories to stay at home. All the team DIVE Northampton At present, DIVE Northampton is open as usual although our usual opening hours have changed slightly. We are able to provide air fills, oxygen fills, equipment servicing and sales as normal.
We've been advised that Stoney Cove and many other in-land sites remain open and with the spring weather coming along, the coast could be an option, so as things stand, there is no excuse not to go diving. Training however is now affected. In order to meet the requirements for Social Distancing and in anticipation of increased restrictions being implemented over the coming days, we have taken the decision to postpone all training and Club pool sessions until Sunday 3rd May. Sunday 22nd March will be our last pool session until then. As Thursday 30th April is the date for our monthly Social Thursday, I hope that we'll be able to get back into the swing of things by doing something fun. In the meantime, if you want to dive, it's good old Stoney or event off to the coast. That being said, things are changing rapidly so we advise everyone to check the website at regular intervals to check for any updates and get the latest information. In line with current medical advice, we would also ask that no one visits the shop who meets the criteria for self-isolation and would urge all people in the high-risk categories to stay at home. If we can help, please let us know how and we'll do the best we can to assist you. All the team DIVE Northampton Darren, one of our dive staff, has organised another trip over to Rugby to play with the Chamber in the evening of Thursday 30th April. The wonderful guys at Midlands Diving Chamber are giving us the chance to do a 50 metre Dry Dive, all for only £40. The event goes as follows: Everything kicks off at 6:30pm at MDC and starts with a power point presentation with a brief on what they do at the chamber and the dive profile you will complete. They will then load us into the chamber for the dive. They have a neuro indicator for us to complete at depth and they also put a ball/balloons, 6mm neoprene and other toys into the chamber so we can see the effects of the gas laws taking place. We can also take our dive computers and underwater cameras with housings in with us. The 50m dive lasts 48 minutes with 28 minutes of decompression. 27 of these minutes will be spent on 100% 02 for safety so we will leave the chamber with less nitrogen in us than before we started the dive. There will then be a debrief of the dive and a look around the chamber panel and an explanation on how they operate the chamber. Total time with MDC is approximately 2½ hours depending on how many questions we have. We are also giving you a chance to complete the DIVE Northampton SSI Chamber Workshop at the same time which simply adds a further £10 to the cost. For this, you will receive a recognition certification on your SSI App. Key Facts:

We are planning on running our next Stress & Rescue Course, Oxygen Administration Course and EFR First Aid and First Aid Refresher Courses through March and April. The exact dates haven’t been agreed yet so there is still some flexibility. Just pop in, give us a call or drop us an email and we can chat through the scheduling options. Once we’ve got a group organised, we’ll agree the final dates. Don’t forget, with only 1 day at Stoney Cove, the Stress & Rescue Course is an option even for those of you that don’t do Stoney that often! There are number of ways that the schedule can be varied to meet individual requirements, so please pop in if you have any scheduling issues. The Stress & Rescue Course is open to anyone who has completed their Open Water Course, is at least 12 years old, has dived recently and who feels confident in-water. The Oxygen and First Aid Courses are open to anyone. The Stress & Rescue Course is a pre-requisite for anyone wishing to progress to Master Scuba Diver or follow the Professional route and become a Divemaster. These Courses can be undertaken separately or for anyone looking to complete their complete Stress & Rescue program, this consists of all 3 elements, one of which is optional but highly recommended: Emergency First Response (CPR & First Aid Course). This is compulsory unless you have an alternative, current, CPR certification and takes 1⅓ full training days in the classroom. The first day can be used as the EFR Refresher Course for existing First Aiders needing a refresher. Oxygen Administration. This is optional and requires ⅔ full classroom day. We normally combine the second First Aid day and the optional Oxygen Administration course into 1 full day of training. This allows us to integrate Oxygen use into the practical scenarios. Rescue Course. At least 1 day of academics followed by at least 3 or 4 Sunday afternoon / Thursday evening pool sessions and 1 day at Stoney Cove for the 3 practical application dives. We will schedule the academic sessions to run on a Saturday or Sunday and the Confined Water sessions to run on a number of Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings are for practice and catch-up. The format for this course enables us to spend more time developing skills in the pool and finish off with a single day at Stoney Cove running through a number of realistic Rescue Scenarios. Schedule for all elements: Training Day 1 - 9:00am to 4:00pm - Emergency First Response Lectures including Defibrillator Training Training Day 2 - 8:30am to 12:00pm - Oxygen Admin Specialty Lectures followed by 12:00 to 14:00 - EFR & Oxygen Admin Scenarios (Day 2 of the full EFR Course) followed by 5:00pm to 7:00pm Pool Skill Review * Training Day 3 - 8:30am to 4:00pm – Stress & Rescue Theory sessions followed by 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool * Training Day 4 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool * Training Day 5 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool * Training Day 6 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool * Training Day 7 - 7:00am to 2:00pm Rescue Stoney * For anyone that cannot make every Sunday Pool session, it is possible to catch up on the Thursday evenings before or after the missed Sunday or use these Thursday evenings as additional practice sessions. For more detailed information and costings, see below. All the best Andy Hillier 01604 586156 www.divenorthampton.co.uk Our regular School/Club kit sell-off is back. As always, the kit was brought in around Christmas time in 2018 for the 2019 season and we’ve just had the replacement 2020 kit start to arrive. We were so pleased with them last year, we’ve gone for the same again this year! The kit has mainly been used in the pool or Stoney Cove. If you want the kit servicing before you take it away, we are offering a big discount for this – a £49.95 fixed price for the Reg set. Last year we went for the fantastic new Apeks XL4+ Regulator sets which means we are now able to offer these to you at a fantastic price. These are the latest version of the XL4+ range and not to be confused with the original XL4 regulator which doesn’t have the same features. They are fully cold-water rated (we’ve used them through the winter at Stoney Cove and they’ve been brilliant) and come with 2 High Pressure ports meaning you can have a gauge and transmitter. Combined with the lightweight, flexible hoses, these are not just great for the cold water, they also make a truly fantastic travel set. The Reg Sets (Full Apeks XL4+ First & Second Stage set in DIN with the Apeks XL4 Octo and Apeks SPG) for £249.95, down about £15 on last year, which is so much of a steal I don’t even want to think about it! These retail at £692 for the Reg, Octo and Console. You are therefore getting these with over £440 off retail, or about 35% of what they should be. They don’t come with an LPI hose, but if you want one, I’ll throw in a new one for £15. They may not come with the DIN cap, the first people in get their pick! For more information, follow the links below: XL4+ Regulator - http://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_10&products_id=1677 XL4 Octo - http://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_12&products_id=1629 Gauge - http://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=27_188&products_id=1039 These are available on a first-come, first-served basis and there are only 7 sets left so people will need to be quick! If you want one or more holding for you, drop me an email or a call and we’ll put them to one side. Andy Hillier 01604 586156 www.divenorthampton.co.uk |
