REBREATHER LEVEL 3: RESCUE
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? This core level 3 rebreather rescue programme is an important and crucial step in expanding your knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. This training programme is a prerequisite for all leadership training (Level 4 dive master and instructors). This course is demanding and realistic in its conduct, content and approach. Interaction discussion, variety and flexibility are stressed during skills training. This unique course builds confidence and ability, providing the skills and knowledge to help you better understand how to respond safely and efficiently to surface and underwater emergencies. PURPOSE OF THE COURSE This course is designed to train students in the safe use and technology of rebreather diving with no decompression, up to 1.2 PpO2 and to a maximum depth of 40 metres/132 feet. PREREQUISITES Subject to the General Diving Standards, this may change without notice; To be minimum of 16 years old or subject to the Rebreather Specialty programme. To be certified diver for at least 3 months. Completed and passed Level 3 academic section Quick Quiz and Exam. To start the programme, have a minimum of 15 hours logged in water time (confined and open water) on a rebreather. Have a Rebreather Level 2 or equivalent certification from a recognised training agency and/or complete, to the satisfaction of the instructor, the minimum in water rebreather Level 2 skills. The instructor is to evaluate these skills. The Rebreather Specialty certification or equivalent certification from a recognised training agency OR Complete and pass, in addition to the core rebreather Level 3 training, the academic Quick Quiz and Exam sections of a Rebreather Specialty programme. To submit Deep (limited depth 30m/66 ft), Night/Restricted Visibility, Navigation, Search and Discovery certificate and/or equivalent. Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider certificate (DAN/equivalent). Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the Dive Centre for approval prior to any in water training. OPEN CIRCUIT CROSS OVER TO REBREATHER Prerequisites: Subject to the General Diving Standards, this may change without notice; To be a minimum of 16 years old. To be certified for at least 6 months. Open Circuit minimum 25 logged hours underwater or 50 logged dives underwater using open circuit, of which 7 logged hours or 15 logged dives shall be whilst diving with nitrox and 5 logged hours or 10 logged dives are between 27-40 m/89-132 ft. Submit an open circuit Rescue or higher certification from a recognised training agency. To submit Deep (limited depth 40m/132 ft), Night/Restricted Visibility, Navigation, Nitrox certification from a recognised training agency and at the instructor's discretion complete the Search and Discovery navigation skills as detailed in the RAID Level 2 programme. Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider certificate (PADI/equivalent). Comply with the prerequisites of the rebreather (to be used) Specialty programme. Complete and pass on-line Rebreather academic core rebreather Levels 1, 2 and 3 programmes. Complete and pass the Quick Quiz and Exam of the academic section of a rebreather Specialty programmes. Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the Dive Centre for approval prior to any in water training. NOTE: The above does not guarantee acceptance and after an evaluation of your qualifications, it may be necessary that requirements to be met. COURSE CONTENT On-line e-learning academic presentations, quizzes, exam and practical skills as detailed. In water sessions as detailed, totalling a minimum 6 hours logged underwater using a registered rebreather whilst carrying a side sling alternate air source, or additional time as required in the rebreather specialty programme. Open Circuit cross over to Rebreather skill development shall have additional 2 hours logged confined underwater training in addition to the core rebreather Level 3 and the unit Specific rebreather individual minimum specified logged hours. The student will be required to complete a quick written quiz with the Instructor prior to the commencement of any in water training IN WATER TRAINING Confined Water: If applicable Rebreather Specialty programme - confined water skills as detailed. Review personal diving skills Stamina and Waterman ship skills Rebreather - Confined water skills as detailed. Open Circuit cross over - Confined water skills as detailed. Open Water - Four qualifying open water dives: If applicable Rebreather Specialty programme - open water skills as detailed Scenario 1 Scenario 2 Scenario 3 Deep - Limited 40 metres/132 feet CERTIFICATION The minimum logged hours, as detailed have been completed. All confined and /or open water skills have been acknowledged and accepted on-line (through the RAID web site) as mastered by the certifying Instructor and student. The Dive Centre has confirmed certification on-line through the web site. |
