                                                          SPORT REBREATHER INSTRUCTOR

                                                          PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
                                                          This programme is designed to train qualified RAID Rebreather Level 4 Dive masters or equivalent, to teach Rebreather and Open Circuit (air/nitrox) diving from Level 1 through to Level 4. After successfully completing the Instructor Development Course (IDP) and exams, instructors shall have the responsibility for teaching persons to SCUBA dive whilst using Rebreathers for which they are certified to dive/use and/or open circuit equipment.

                                                          During the Instructor Development Course, students will review the General Diving Standards; in water training methods; practical teaching; philosophies, and academic presentations.

                                                          The programme is designed to train students in the use and technology of Rebreather diving with no decompression, up to 1.2 PpO2 and/or open circuit diving with no decompression, up to 1.4 PpO2 (nitrox) to a maximum depth of 40 metres/132 feet.

                                                          PREREQUISITES
                                                          To be a minimum of 18 years old.
                                                          Completed and passed RAID Rebreather Levels1, 2, 3 and Instructor academic sections Quick Quiz and Exams.
                                                          To be a certified diver for at least 12 months prior to in water training.
                                                          Completed at least one RAID Rebreather Speciality programme/s.
                                                          To be certified as a RAID dive master and/or equivalent.
                                                          To have the required logged hours on a Rebreather as detailed in the RAID Rebreather Instructor Speciality programme/s
                                                          Have at least 20 logged hours carrying a side sling alternate air source whilst using a rebreather.
                                                          To submit Navigation, Night/Restricted Visibility (of which at least 10 hours or 20 logged dives are required for each) and Deep diver certificates (of which at least 10 hours are between 27-40 m/89-132 ft) or equivalent.
                                                          To submit a RAID Rebreather Level 3 Rescue certificate, and/or equivalent and/or complete, to the satisfaction of the Instructor Trainer, the in water skills of the RAID Rebreather Level 3 programme, whilst carrying a side sling alternative air source cylinder. (It is highly recommended to do the core Rebreather Level 3 course in full).
                                                          Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificates. (DAN/equivalent).
                                                          Subject to the prerequisites of a rebreather Instructor Speciality programme/s.
                                                          Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the RAID Dive Centre and Instructor Trainer for approval prior to any in water training.
                                                          Complete a Instructor Development practical programme with a RAID Instructor Trainer or Examiner

                                                          REBREATHER INSTRUCTOR CROSS OVER
                                                          A certified and renewed rebreather Instructor may cross over to become a RAID Sport Rebreather Instructor after meeting the following:
                                                          To be a minimum of 18 years old.
                                                          Completed and passed RAID Rebreather Levels1, 2, 3 and Instructor academic sections Quick Quiz and Exams.
                                                          To be a certified rebreather instructor from a recognised training agency.
                                                          To have the required logged hours on a Rebreather as detailed in the RAID Rebreather Instructor Speciality programme/s
                                                          Have at least 20 logged hours or 40 logged dives carrying a side sling alternate air source whilst using a rebreather.
                                                          To submit Navigation, Night/Restricted Visibility (of which at least 10 hours or 20 logged dives are required for each) and Deep diver certificates (of which at least 10 hours are between 27-40 m/89-132 ft) or equivalent.
                                                          To submit a RAID Level 3 Rescue certificate, and/or equivalent and/or complete, to the satisfaction of the Instructor Trainer if required, the in water skills of the core Rebreather.                                                           Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor or higher certificates. (DAN/equivalent).
                                                          Complete on-line at least one RAID Rebreather Speciality programme/s that the cross over instructor is already certified by a recognised training agency to teach.
                                                          Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented for approval.
                                                          At the discretion of RAID HQ and/or Dive Centre or Instructor Trainer complete a practical cross over programme

                                                          NOTE: The above does not guarantee acceptance by RAID who has the sole decision to accept or ask for further requirements to be met.

                                                          RAID OPEN CIRCUIT INSTRUCTOR CROSS OVER
                                                          A certified and renewed RAID Open Circuit Instructor may cross over to become a RAID Registered CCR Instructor after meeting the following:
                                                          To be a minimum of 18 years old.
                                                          To be a certified RAID Speciality Rebreather dive/user.
                                                          Completed and passed RAID Rebreather Levels 1, 2, 3 and Instructor academic sections Quick Quiz and Exams.
                                                          To have the required logged hours on a Rebreather as detailed in the RAID Rebreather Instructor Speciality programme/s.
                                                          To be a certified RAID Open Circuit Instructor.
                                                          Have at least 20 logged hours carrying a side sling alternate air source.
                                                          Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor or higher certificates. (DAN/equivalent).
                                                          Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented for approval.
                                                          At the discretion of RAID HQ and/or Dive Centre or Instructor Trainer complete a practical cross over programme

                                                          NOTE: The above does not guarantee acceptance by RAID who has the sole decision to accept or ask for further requirements to be met.

                                                          INSTRUCTOR DUTIES
                                                          A RAID Sport Rebreather Instructor is certified to teach, within the Terms and Conditions of the RAID General Diving Standards:
                                                          Persons to dive whilst using open circuit equipment.
                                                          Persons to dive whilst using RAID Rebreather/s for which the Instructor has completed and passed a Rebreather Instructor Speciality/s and is certified to dive/use.
                                                          Supervise and/or lead recreational and/or training activities.
                                                          Assist a lead RAID Instructor during open circuit in water training sessions for courses.
                                                          Rebreathers: Assist a lead RAID Instructor during Speciality rebreather, as certified to dive/use, in water training sessions.
                                                          Guide dives for certified divers to a maximum depth of 40 metres/132 feet.
                                                          Accompany students during in water training exercises.
                                                          Maintain RAID membership.
                                                          Maintain a dive leader attitude at all times when representing RAID.

                                                          NOTE: The RAID Sport Rebreather Instructor has to complete and pass an Instructor Speciality programme for each rebreather that the Instructor wants to provide tuition.

                                                          CERTIFICATION
                                                          The minimum logged hours, as detailed have been completed. All confined and /or open water skills have been acknowledged and accepted on-line (through the RAID web site) as mastered by the certifying RAID instructor and student. The RAID Dive Centre has confirmed certification on-line through the RAID web site.
