- Why Open Water?

This globally-recognized certification program is the best way to begin your life-long adventure as a certified scuba diver. Personalized training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable underwater. As a certified Open Water Diver, you will have the freedom to dive to a maximum of 18 metres (less for children) with a buddy, independent of a professional.

If you currently have a Scuba Diver certification, contact Andy on andy@divenorthampton.co.uk to see how credit from this course may apply to the open water program.

- What do I need to start?

Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can get their Open Water Diver certification. You must be older than the age of 10 to begin the Open Water Diver course.

A Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a Dive Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.

 - What will I do?

Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing a total of six pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water dives.

- How do I book?

Contact Andy on andy@divenorthampton.co.uk for details about your Open Water Diver certification. or better still, come into the Dive Centre and we can get your Course organised and get you started straight away! Alternatively, use the Book Now link at the top of the page.
- How long will it take?

There are 3 scheduling options. As this program is performance based, you proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

The standard schedule offers the cheapest option. This  requires you to fit in to our regular monthly schedule - Click here to see a specimen Schedule for this Open Water Course and Referral option.

Alternatively, for a small surcharge, you can choose to transfer between schedules as often as you wish to create a highly flexible training schedule.

Finally, if you want a totally bespoke, intensive or one-to-one course, we can structure this for you although the costs will be higher, depending on the additional pool and open water sessions that are required.

For more information on the pricing and scheduling options, contact us at the DIVE Centre or follow the Schedule and Pricing Options link at the top of the page.
- What will I need?

Be able to swim 200 metres and float for 10 minutes

You will be given access to the full suite of training materials and videos when you sign up for the course. These you can study at home, at work, on the move,,, just about anywhere. These are provided to you when you book and are included in your course fees.
