Our regular School/Club kit sell-off is back. As always, the kit was brought in last August and we’ve just had the replacement kit start to arrive. The kit has mainly been used in the pool or Stoney Cove. If you want the kit servicing before you take it away, we are offering a big discount for this – a £49.95 fixed price for the Reg set.
Last year we went for the hugely popular Apeks XTX40 Regulator sets which means we are now able to offer these to you at a fantastic price. These are the latest version of the XTX range which are handable (the hose can come in from either side) and have the Apeks DST swivel first stage. This makes them ideal for regular or cold-water diving and use as a twinset or stage rig.
The Reg Sets (Full Apeks DST XTX40 stage 3 set in DIN with Apeks SPG) for £265, up only £20 on last year, which is so much of a steal I don’t even want to think about it! These retail at £602 for the Reg and Octo and £85 for the Console. You are therefore getting these with £422 off retail. If you want the old LPI hose, I’ll throw this in for £10 or supply a new one for £17.50. They may not come with the DIN cap.
These are available to Club & Community Members on a first-come, first-served basis and I’ll be offering what’s left of them to everyone else from the end of next week. There are only 15 sets in total so people will need to be quick!

With a number of trips heading off during September and the usual UK winter heading in our direction, I though it would be a good opportunity to run an Equipment Specialty course on Sunday 16th September.
Whether it's a regulator problem, a wet suit tear or a broken mask strap, the Equipment Specialist course can help. This Specialty course prepares you for the basic equipment maintenance, care and adjustments you'll encounter every day. In addition, you'll get the valuable background on equipment repair and purchase, making you better able to protect your investment. You can count this Specialty certification towards your Master Scuba Diver certification.
In addition, I will cover any specific areas that are requested in a relaxed Q&A session at the end. Feel free to bring your own kit along if you do have any specific issues or questions.
I can’t tell you that you’ll emerge as a full-on service technician and be able to fix everything that goes wrong but I can promise that you’ll be able to deal with lots of the tricky little problems that so often stop a dive.
You must be at least 12 years old and have at least a Scuba Diver certification.
The course only costs £85 for Club Members and will start at 8:30am here on Sunday 16th September at the shop and be finished by 2:00pm. There is no home-work to do, it is all hands-on practical stuff.
Just pop in, drop me an email or give me a ring to book.
All the best
Club Social Thursdays 30th August - Ten Pin Bowling
We’ve not done this for some time so it's been suggested that we go bowling again.
The good news is that Tenpin at Sixfields are still offering a special deal for online bookings for Thursday nights. For the grand sum of £10, you get 2 games, a drink and a sharing platter of snacks. This offer is only available online so organising things is going to be a little tricky.
The plan will be to book for an 8:00pm start allowing those of us stuck at the shop until closing time a chance to get there and get ready.
If you want to join us, just let me know by email, phone etc and I'll book you in, you can then either pop into the shop with your £10 or pay me back on the night. Once I have a group of 4 or more, I’ll place the booking online.
Clearly, spaces will be limited by availability so it’s important for us to get the booking in as early as possible. I’ve just checked and there are currently at least 12 spaces available.
Hopefully we’ll see you there!
Available in male and female fittings, the 5mm AquaFlex wetsuit with super-stretch neoprene, provides the ultimate in comfort and quality.
With the full super-stretch neoprene used throughout, plus the liquid-sealed seams, the AquaFlex’s quality stands out amongst the competition.
The suits are made with AquaFlex neoprene which has three times the stretch of standard neoprene, making the suit easy to get on and off and also ensures a great fit for every body shape. The seams are sealed with liquid rubber, which make them durable and protects them from unraveling and also keeps water out and warmth in. The cuffs are all fused with the X-Tend technology which minimises fraying and maximises stretch. The left sleeve is outfitted with a silicone traction pad to keep wrist dive computers from rotating when neoprene compresses. The internal chest and back panels have a thermal loop laminate to help keep warmth at the body’s core.
5mm AquaFlex neoprene used throughout. This is the base thickness of the neoprene layer before the nylon outer and inner layers are added
The outer nylon material is resistant to abrasions and hook-and-loop materials due to the tighter weave. This keeps the suit looking good and functioning well
The inner material is ultra-soft, making these suits easy to don and doff
Skin-in-neck seal provides for a comfortable stretch and seals out water
Internal thermal chest and back material keep warmth at the body’s core
Liquid rubber seams prevent water transfer and unraveling
Silicone print wrist computer traction pad
Three-way zipper seal minimises water entry to maintain warmth
Kidney pad for additional insulation in this high heat loss area
Pre-bent anatomic legs and arms for comfort
The knee pads, wrist and ankles are ultra stretchy
Last time we tried to get to the Beer Guerrilla, someone must have told them and they decided to close that day! This time, we're going to keep it quiet and hopefully they'll never know until we get there!
So, on Thursday 26th we will be getting together at the Beer Guerrilla to sample some of their wonderful beers. There is every chance that after a few drinks, some of us may wander up the road and enjoy a curry too!
Beer Guerrilla is a local, independent, family run business. They showcase small breweries and producers who value quality over quantity. Beer is a far more varied drink than many people realise, and they introduce the uninitiated to that fact, because if you think you don’t like beer, they bet we can find a brew for you.
They stock a huge range of beers from around the world. After all, variety is the spice of life. They’ve got IPA’s, Pale Ales, Sours, Lambics, Saisons, Red Ales, Stouts, Porters, Fruit Beers, Wheats, Belgian Tripels & Quads. Plus, Real Ale in bottles. With that amount of choice, they are confident that we can find a beer to suit anyone’s taste, and a beer to suit every occasion.
In addition to their great range of bottles and cans, they have draught and cask beers too. They can pour you a small Craft Beer to sip while you shop, or just to relax with after a hard day.
You can see more at their website - www.beerguerrilla.co.uk
The Beer Guerrilla is located at 227 Wellingborough Rd, Northampton NN1 4EF
Hopefully, we’ll see some of you there.
Typhoon have just had a run through of their stock and have identified a number of discontinued Dry Suits that they are offering to us at a very special price. These are all brand new and many of them are available in a number of different sizes and most are currently unbooted so we can specify whatever boot size we want.
