We are planning on running our next Stress & Rescue Course, Oxygen Administration Course and EFR First Aid and First Aid Refresher Courses through March and April. The exact dates haven’t been agreed yet so there is still some flexibility. Just pop in, give us a call or drop us an email and we can chat through the scheduling options. Once we’ve got a group organised, we’ll agree the final dates. Don’t forget, with only 1 day at Stoney Cove, the Stress & Rescue Course is an option even for those of you that don’t do Stoney that often! There are number of ways that the schedule can be varied to meet individual requirements, so please pop in if you have any scheduling issues.

The Stress & Rescue Course is open to anyone who has completed their Open Water Course, is at least 12 years old, has dived recently and who feels confident in-water. The Oxygen and First Aid Courses are open to anyone. The Stress & Rescue Course is a pre-requisite for anyone wishing to progress to Master Scuba Diver or follow the Professional route and become a Divemaster.

These Courses can be undertaken separately or for anyone looking to complete their complete Stress & Rescue program, this consists of all 3 elements, one of which is optional but highly recommended:

Emergency First Response (CPR & First Aid Course). This is compulsory unless you have an alternative, current, CPR certification and takes 1⅓  full training days in the classroom. The first day can be used as the EFR Refresher Course for existing First Aiders needing a refresher.

Oxygen Administration. This is optional and requires ⅔ full classroom day. We normally combine the second First Aid day and the optional Oxygen Administration course into 1 full day of training. This allows us to integrate Oxygen use into the practical scenarios.

Rescue Course. At least 1 day of academics followed by at least 3 or 4 Sunday afternoon / Thursday evening pool sessions and 1 day at Stoney Cove for the 3 practical application dives.

We will schedule the academic sessions to run on a Saturday or Sunday and the Confined Water sessions to run on a number of Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings are for practice and catch-up. The format for this course enables us to spend more time developing skills in the pool and finish off with a single day at Stoney Cove running through a number of realistic Rescue Scenarios.

Schedule for all elements:

Training Day 1 - 9:00am to 4:00pm - Emergency First Response Lectures including Defibrillator Training
Training Day 2 - 8:30am to 12:00pm - Oxygen Admin Specialty Lectures followed by 12:00 to 14:00 - EFR & Oxygen Admin Scenarios (Day 2 of the full EFR Course) followed by 5:00pm to 7:00pm Pool Skill Review *
Training Day 3 - 8:30am to 4:00pm – Stress & Rescue Theory sessions followed by 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool *
Training Day 4 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool *
Training Day 5 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool *
Training Day 6 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Rescue Pool *
Training Day 7 - 7:00am to 2:00pm Rescue Stoney

* For anyone that cannot make every Sunday Pool session, it is possible to catch up on the Thursday evenings before or after the missed Sunday or use these Thursday evenings as additional practice sessions.

For more detailed information and costings, see below.

All of the information about the Stress & Rescue Course and other elements is available from our web site - www.divenorthampton.co.uk In case accessing this is difficult for you, I'll run through the basics....

Emergency First Response Course  - from £90.
A compulsory part of the Stress & Rescue Course. This is a stand-alone course that provides a complete medical first-aid qualification. This qualification must be renewed every 2 years. Excellent first aid and emergency CPR training for divers and non-divers alike. You may opt out of this course if you hold a valid and appropriate first aid/CPR qualification. 11/3 full training days in the classroom or it may be possible to combine this with the Oxygen Administration Course and run both Courses over 2 full Saturdays or a Saturday & Sunday. This course will include the use of Defibrillators and training to deploy them in an emergency.

Oxygen Administration Specialty - from £99.
An essential course that teaches the use and administration of oxygen in diving emergency situations. This course is a PADI distinctive specialty and counts towards a Master Scuba Diver rating. It is not necessary but highly recommended that this course be taken during your Rescue Course. 2/3 full classroom day or it may be possible to combine this with the EFR Course and run both Courses over 2 full Saturdays or a Saturday & Sunday.

Stress & Rescue Course - from £265.
Min Age 12 and you must already be an Open Water diver or equivalent, be at least 12 years old, have dived recently and who feels confident in-water. You must have completed the EFR course or hold a valid and appropriate first aid/CPR qualification. The Stress & Rescue Course teaches exemplary rescue and self-rescue skills and is a must for all serious divers. 1 full day of lectures (usually Saturday or a Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm in our training room), usually 4 pool sessions (Sunday evening pool session - 4:00pm onwards) followed by 1 very intensive day of Open Water dives at Stoney Cove.

Rescue Package -  from £425
See the appropriate sections above. Covers the Stress & Rescue Course, Emergency First Response & Oxygen Administration Specialty

DIVE Northampton School/Club Regulator sell-off

Our regular School/Club kit sell-off is back. As always, the kit was brought in around Christmas time in 2018 for the 2019 season and we’ve just had the replacement 2020 kit start to arrive. We were so pleased with them last year, we’ve gone for the same again this year! The kit has mainly been used in the pool or Stoney Cove. If you want the kit servicing before you take it away, we are offering a big discount for this – a £49.95 fixed price for the Reg set.

Last year we went for the fantastic new Apeks XL4+ Regulator sets which means we are now able to offer these to you at a fantastic price. These are the latest version of the XL4+ range and not to be confused with the original XL4 regulator which doesn’t have the same features. They are fully cold-water rated (we’ve used them through the winter at Stoney Cove and they’ve been brilliant) and come with 2 High Pressure ports meaning you can have a gauge and transmitter. Combined with the lightweight, flexible hoses, these are not just great for the cold water, they also make a truly fantastic travel set.

The Reg Sets (Full Apeks XL4+ First & Second Stage set in DIN with the Apeks XL4 Octo and Apeks SPG) for £249.95, down about £15 on last year, which is so much of a steal I don’t even want to think about it! These retail at £692 for the Reg, Octo and Console. You are therefore getting these with over £440 off retail, or about 35% of what they should be. They don’t come with an LPI hose, but if you want one, I’ll throw in a new one for £15. They may not come with the DIN cap, the first people in get their pick!

For more information, follow the links below:

XL4 Octo - http://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_12&products_id=1629
Gauge - http://www.ns-a.co.uk/DIVENorthampton/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=27_188&products_id=1039
These are available on a first-come, first-served basis and there are only 7 sets left so people will need to be quick!

If you want one or more holding for you, drop me an email or a call and we’ll put them to one side.
